DOLGELLAU remain top of the early North Wales Cricket League Division One standings thanks to an emphatic ten-wicket home rout over Ruthin.

The promotion hopefuls made light work of the opposition thanks to a dominant bowling display, restricting the visitors to 55 all out from 22 overs at the crease.

Mark Edmonson produced a mesmerising 11-over spell that saw him take the wickets of Mike Parton (13), Sion Hughes (0), Will Jones (12), Alun Jones (4), captain Rhys Hilditch (0) and Roberts Williams (0) to end the day with stunning figures of 6-29.

He received support at the other end from Sam Williams, who claimed the scalps of Duncan Roberts (9) and Llyr Williams (0) on his way to 2-9, with Sion Francis taking one wicket in the form of opener Dafydd Roberts for just five.

As expected, the home side reached their required target with little fuss and without the loss of a single wicket, with the opening partnership of Francis and Greg Smithies getting them over the line and finishing he day unbeaten on 17 and 27 respectively after nine overs.

The early pacesetters will look to continue their outstanding opening to the campaign this Saturday when they travel to Hawarden Park.
