GLAN Conwy secured promotion to Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One without kicking a ball in anger this weekend.

The fourth-tier title hopefuls are now guaranteed a top-two spot alongside Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs after their only remaining challengers Pwllheli were beaten 2-0 at Llannefydd.

Howard Vaughan’s men can still clinch the championship next Saturday when they welcome Pwll’ to their picturesque base in their final league fixture of what has been a very encouraging season.

Gwyndaf Pritchard’s side got off to a very strong start against Pwll’, who have begun to show the effects of an unforgiving end to the campaign, and they went ahead on 17 minutes when talented forward Sam Jones found the target after some extended possession.

This was swiftly followed by another from the home side, and once again it was Jones was was the beneficiary of some neat approach play to fire another well-taken effort into the corner to double their advantage with 38 on the clock.

After the break saw Pwll’ throw everything at their opponents in the pursuit of a route back into the contest, but they were unable to find a way past the resolute rearguard to ensure their ambitious promotion bid ended and seal a notable achievement for Vaughan’s men.
