LLANGEFNI Town were unable to clinch the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One title after they were held 1-1 at Llanrwst United.

Chris Roberts’ side could not manage to hold on to a slender advantage at the break and had to content with a share of the spoils, leaving them three points ahead of Bodedern Athletic with the pair set to square off on Wednesday night.

A point would be enough for Cefni to clinch the crown, and it would take a 7-0 success for Ricky Williams’ side to see them overtake Town on goal difference.

Things began well for the visitors and they got their noses in front on 28 minutes when Craig Roberts made the most of the space afforded to him to fire into the corner, but United dusted themselves off and restored parity to the scoreline on the hour mark through a neat finish from Callum Parry.

Cefni threw everything at their opponents in the closing stages in pursuit of the win they needed to secure the crown, but the home side held firm to make it a point apiece.

Athletic closed the gap in emphatic style thanks to a 4-1 victory at Mynydd Llandegai.

An early Shaun Jenkins strike for the away side was cancelled out by a neat Andy Barker, but Bodedern turned the screw after the break and secured another three points thanks to goals from Aden Clark, Callum Mcminimee and Jenkins.

Third tier top scorer Meilir Williams took his tally to 28 with a treble in their 5-3 home success over Nantlle Vale, with Llanrug United player-manager David Noel Williams converting a second half penalty in their 1-1 draw at in-form Llandudno Albion.
