LLANGEFNI Town need two points from their final two fixtures to clinch the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One title after a 2-0 victory over Nantlle Vale.

Chris Roberts’ side were pushed all the way by a spirited Vale side to maintain their five-point cushion over Bodedern Athletic, who kept the pressure on by ending a series of disappointing results with an eye-catching 3-1 home triumph over Llanrug United.

A tense first period saw both sides enjoy periods of dominance, but the home side got a crucial breakthrough on 72 minutes when Mathew Jones continued his exceptional recent form in front of goal with another well-taken finish.

This was swiftly followed by another which came through Liam Morris as the prolific marksman produced another clinical effort that found its way into the net to c=round off the scoring and seal another crucial three points.

Ricky Williams’ Athletic side fell behind on 36 minutes when Aaron Hughes converted a chance, but they raised their game considerably in the second period and got back on terms when Casey Boylan converted from the penalty spot with 64 on the clock.

A neat finish from Ryan Taylor put the hosts ahead for the first time on 71 minutes, with Ricky Jones extending their cushion with 75 gone to complete the scoring.

Penrhyndeudraeth picked up a notable win on their travels thanks to a 3-1 result at Prestatyn Sports.

The away side responded well after the break after going behind to a Dean Hyland effort, with Aaron Griffiths, Meilir Williams and Richard Jones on target.
