YNYS Mon women’s manager Karen Williams was thrilled with her side’s showing in their recent friendly against Bethesda Ladies.

The Inter-Games tournament hopefuls took to the field in the hope of impressing their boss and turned in a stylish performance against well-respected opposition to give Williams plenty to think about in hat promises to be a busy few weeks for the group.

A number of friendly fixtures are currently being arranged in the lead-up to the tournament on Anglesey, with training also set to be stepped up following the end of the domestic football season.

Williams, said: “It was quite surprising to be honest as Bethesda are a decent side and I didn’t know what to expect.

“It was all about getting the girls together and we had a large squad so it was important to get everyone playing time as well so I was very impressed.

“We have tried to focus on the fitness side of training at the moment and a little on the tactical side of things, so for a first performance it was really good. Lots of work on but there have been some positive steps forward.

“A few staked their claim as some of the younger ones that we have not seen a lot of finally got the chance to be involved, and some that have come along from the higher leagues have put their name on the sheet as well.

“The plan now is to start training more as the season is finishing and trying to get as many friendlies in as we can to further prepare ourselves for the tests that lie ahead in a few weeks’ time.”
