LLANGEFNI Town maintained their slender lead at the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One summit thanks to a 2-0 home win over Llandudno Albion.
A cagey first half saw both side waste good opportunities to break the deadlock, but Town came out after the break with a renewed sense of purpose that resulted in Matthew Jones converting at the near post with 51 on the clock.
This visibly motivated the home side further and they had a golden chance to extend their advantage shortly after the restart when they were awarded a penalty, and Kev Lloyd held his nerve to despatch the spot kick and increase their tally.
Bodedern Athletic remain one point behind Cefni with a crucial game in hand after emerging from their trip to Barmouth and Dyffryn United with a 2-0 victory.
The visitors weathered an early storm and got their noses in front on 43 minutes when David Ricky Jones hit the target after a sustained period of pressure.
After the break saw the away side increase their tally on 75 minutes through Ryan Taylor, giving Ricky Williams’ men a 12th consecutive league triumph.
Player-manager David Noel Williams came to the rescue of Llanrug United with a second half equaliser in their 1-1 draw at Llanrwst United, but there was no such for Nantlle Vale as they were downed 2-1 at St Asaph City.
There was better fortune for Mynydd Llandegai, who secured a 4-2 win over Prestatyn Sports thanks to efforts from Craig Wheeler, Gethin Jeffries and Osian Jones.
