LLANDUDNO Albion’s feint hopes of securing the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One title are now over after a 2-0 loss at Llangefni Town.
The third-tier rivals were involved in another hard-fought affair that saw Chris Roberts’ side come out on top, leaving the Albion in third spot having played considerably more games than league-leading Cefni and Bodedern Athletic.
A cagey first half saw both side waste good opportunities to break the deadlock, but Town came out after the break with a renewed sense of purpose that resulted in Matthew Jones converting at the near post with 51 on the clock.
This visibly motivated the home side further and they had a golden chance to extend their advantage shortly after the restart when they were awarded a penalty, and Kev Lloyd held his nerve to despatch the spot kick and increase their tally.
Despite their best efforts, Darren Jones’ side were unable to find a route back into the game as they fell to only their third away defeat of the season.
Llanrwst United picked up a point on home soil thanks to a 1-1 stalemate with Llanrug United.
The Rwsters’ began the game on the front foot and went ahead on 17 minutes when Callum Parry finished well following a period of pressure, but they were pegged back with 27 on the clock when player-manager David Noel-Williams pounced for a leveller to ensure both sides had something to show for their efforts on the day.
