BRO Goronwy turned on the style to reach the NWCFA Junior Cup final with a 5-0 win over Menai Bridge Tigers.

It proved to be a one-sided affair between the Gwynedd League rivals, with Bro emerging victorious in comfortable fashion to book their second final berth in the last three seasons.

The home side almost went ahead on 15 minutes when Connor Jones flashed an effort narrowly wide, with Sion Hogan’s strike superbly diverted at the other end for the Tigers.

Bro continued to probe in search of an opener, which came on 22 minutes when the outstanding Tom Wood latched on to a Jamie Ryan Jones flick on to steer into the net.

The visitors had no answer for Wood throughout the first period, and the prolific marksman doubled their advantage soon after following another period of pressure, and he rounded off an incredible 45 minutes with a hat-trick to put his side further in the ascendancy.

A sensational piece of defending from Bro skipper Dylan Jones denied Bridge a goal just before the break, and they confirmed victory after the interval when Wood went from scorer to provider when he teed up Jones for their fourth of the semi-final on 50 minutes.

There was still time for the home side to rub further salt into the visitors’ wounds, and once again it was Wood who was the beneficiary of some outstanding approach play when he volleyed home late onto complete the rout.

Bro will play with Talysarn Cets or all-conquering Bryngwran Bulls in the end of season showcase.
