MELIDEN’s disappointing recent Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two form continued with a 5-1 home loss to fellow strugglers Mochdre Sports.

The Miners, who are resigning from the fourth tier at the end of the season to “ensure the long-term future” of the club, are now two points outside the bottom three after their 17th defeat in 25 games, with Holyhead Town also having two games in hand on their relegation rivals.

The home side had no answer to Chris Lloyd throughout the contest, with the in-form player turning in an exceptional display throughout.

This resulted in the forward producing a clinical hat-trick that played a significant part in the visitors’ crucial success, with Bobby Tudor and Josh Grimshaw also on target for Sports during the rout.

Chris Marsden did manage to notch a consolation for the hosts after a rare spell of possession, but it failed to have an overall impact on the outcome on another disappointing day at the office for the struggling side.

Things do not get any easier for Meliden during their next outing on April 13 when they make the daunting trip to title favourites Glan Conwy.
