KINMEL Bay’s poor end to the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two season continued with a 3-1 home reverse at the hands of title-chasing Llannefydd.

Andy Thomas’ side have slipped to sixth position after emerging as surprise championship contenders at the turn of the year, and they will look to get back to winning ways this Saturday during their home clash against Pwllheli (2.30pm).

Things got off to the worse possible start for the hosts, who fell behind after just two minutes when Elgan Roberts converted the first real chance of note.

This provoked a strong response from the Bay, who got back on level terms on 20 minutes when prolific forward Kie Ellis produced a superb finish after an impressive spell of possession in the lead-up to the chance.

They were unable to make the most of their momentum against a formidable Llan rearguard, and the away side got their noses in front yet again on the half hour mark when Tomos Jones finished well following a period of sustained pressure.

The visitors continued to probe towards the end of the first period, and this brought further rewards on 40 minutes when Jones capitalised on another opportunity to despatch his second of the contest in fine fashion.

After the break saw both sides spurn good chances in a more even affair, but Bay were unable to find a route back into the game and suffered their ninth loss in 25 fourth tier games.

Meliden’s disappointing form also goes on as they were heavily downed 5-0 at home by Penmaenmawr Phoenix.
