PRESTATYN Sports continue to finish the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One season on a high thanks to a 4-3 home victory over Nantlle Vale.

The newly promoted side’s excellent recent run of results continued against a strong Vale side at their Gronant base, leaving Mark Hughes and John Hargreaves’ men in seventh position ahead of their home tie against Penrhyndeudraeth on Saturday (2.30pm).

The home side imposed themselves on proceedings from the outset and went after 15 minutes when Dean Hyland maintained his fine recent form in front of goal with another well-taken finish.

This was swiftly followed by another for the hosts, with Michael Jones finding the net after some neat build-up play on 20 minutes, but Vale responded well to the latest setback and halved the deficit through Alan Davies Thomas with 21 on the clock.

Sports picked up the tempo once again at the start of the second period, which resulted in them restoring their two-goal cushion thanks to another clinical strike from Hyland on 55 minutes.

The hosts all-but sealed three points on 85 minutes when Kris Owen made the most of the space afforded to him and fire in a fourth, but the away side refused to lie down and gave themselves a glimmer of hope when Thomas despatched his second of the afternoon late on.

A nervy ending was assured as Alan Griffiths notched a third for the visitors with virtually the final action of the game, which left them with no time to pile on the pressure in search of a leveller and give Sports their 11th win in 24 third-tier contests.
