The Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One side turned in a spirited display in atrocious conditions, but they were unable to claim a share of the spoils despite a late rally.
Mark Hughes and John Hargreaves’ side now find themselves sitting in seventh position in the standings after what has been a hugely successful operating in the third tier.
They will look to get back to winning ways during their next outing on March 30 at home to Cookson Cup finalists Penrhyndeudraeth (2.30pm).
The home side made an imposing start to the contest and went ahead after just 14 minutes when prolific forward Sam Jones made the most of the space afforded to him with a composed finish to open the scoring.
This provoked a strong response from the visitors, who competed well throughout the remainder of the first period, but they were unable to take advantage of any chances that came their way and found themselves a goal down at the break.
After the interval saw both sides find it difficult to get a foothold on the game thanks in no small part to the deteriorating pitch, and with Sports throwing caution to the wind in search of a leveller in the closing stages, a quick break saw Jones despatch another chance on 87 minutes to double the hosts’ advantage.
Despite their best efforts, the away side were unable to muster a late surge in the dying moments to suffer their tenth league defeat in 23 outings.
