BLAENAU Ffestiniog Amateurs moved back to top spot in Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two with a 2-0 victory at Pentraeth.

With Glan Conwy’s game at Llannerchymedd postponed due to a waterlogged surface, the Quarrymen took full advantage and they now sit one point ahead of Howard Vaughan’s men, although they have played three games more than their title rivals.

A scoreless first period was brought to life shortly after the break when Tom Hughes burst clear and finished well to put the away side in front with 52 on the clock.

The same player was on hand to double the visitors’ advantage in the closing stages, making the most of some space to find the corner on 80 minutes and round off the scoring.

Aberffraw cemented their position in third thanks to a 2-0 victory over basement dwellers Amlwch Town.

The prolific Nathan Morre got the hosts ahead on 33 minutes with a typically composed finish, and a Richard Roberts strike a minute from time sealed another three points against a spirited Town outfit.

Iwan Owen was the star of the show for Y Felinheli in their resounding 4-1 success at struggling Mochdre Sports, with Mark Thomas (2) and Joe Donovan on target for Holyhead Town in their 3-3 home draw with Meliden.

Gaerwen picked up a valuable point on their travels thanks to a 2-2 stalemate at Penmaenmawr Phoenix, with Darren Lewthwaite and Gethin Davies both finding the net either side of half-time.
