CONWY Borough ended a poor run of recent results with a 1-1 draw with Prestatyn Town at Y Morfa.

The Tangerines’ sported a special kit in support of the Football vs Homophobia initiative, but they were unable to claim three points against a Town side that had ten men for the final quarter of the contest.

Warren Gibbs’ men will look to all-but secure their Huws Gray Alliance status for next season this Saturday when they travel to Penrhyncoch.

The away side made a bright start to proceedings and almost went ahead on two occasions early on when the forward combination of Ben Maher and Oli Buckley both fluffed their lines for good areas.

They were made to pay for their early lack of conviction in front of goal on 24 minutes when the hosts broke the deadlock when striker Dean Seager latched on to a long ball before demonstrating impressive composure to put away the opportunity.

This provoked a strong response from the visitors, who went close to getting back on level terms soon after when Alex Jones and Jack Higgins failed to make the most of the chances that presented themselves, but they did equalise shortly before the interval when a Dan Roberts effort took a wicked deflection past Ben Heald.

Neil Gibson’s side almost went into half-time ahead when a Dave Hayes strike rattled the post, but Boro’ received a boost on 61 minutes when Higgins was shown a second yellow for simulation which left the Seasiders’ with ten men for a second consecutive week.

The home side hit the woodwork after a sustained spell of possession on 70 minutes, and despite laying siege to the visiting goal in the closing stages they were unable to find a way past the resolute Town rearguard and had to be content with a point to show for their efforts.
