MELIDEN’s concerning recent form continued with a resounding 5-0 defeat at Pentraeth.
The Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two side have endured a difficult campaign and currently sit in 12th spot after their 15th loss in 22 fourth tier games, and Peter Evans’ side will be aiming to put things right and start a positive end to the season when they make the long trip to Holyhead Town on Saturday (2.30pm).
Things got off to the worst possible start for the away side, who fell behind after just six minutes when Marquis Holland broke clear and finished well, and Traeth added a second soon after when Gwyndaf Hughes rounded off a fine team move with just nine on the clock.
The outstanding Holland proved to be too much for the visiting rearguard to handle in the first period, and he was rewarded for his exceptional efforts midway through the half with another neat strike to secure the hosts’ third on 26 minutes.
Credit to the visitors, they held firm in the face of some consistent pressure during the remainder of the half, and they made an encouraging start to the second period until a quick-fire brace from Iwan Williams on 60 and 70 minutes ultimately sealed their fate.
