BANGOR City Men’s Hockey team went down to a 3-0 loss away to Timperley 3rds last Saturday.

With a bare eleven making the trip to Altrincham, Bangor’s young team put in a shift but came up just short.

The hosts began strongly but were kept frustrated by some fine saves from Rayshauun Suen and good work by the Bangor backline.

However, they made the breakthrough with a goal on 17 minutes, before adding the all-important second just before the break to double their advantage.

City lifted their game in the second half and had they had been more clinical, they could certainly have come away with something.

Keith Proudlove and Tom Hughes both failed to get shots on target from promising situations, while captain Ash Hardaker forced some good saves from the home keeper from a series of short corners.

But with 10 minutes remaining, Timperley punished Bangor for their missed opportunities with a fluid counter-attacking goal which put the game to bed.

City welcome Chester 3rds to the Brailsford Centre 3G on Saturday (2.15pm).
