SEVERAL Gwynedd and Anglesey-based football clubs enjoyed success in the third round of the prestigious North Wales Coast Football Association (NWCFA) Junior Cup today.
The big news of the day however was that the holders of the cup, Nefyn United, are out after falling to a 4-3 defeat at home to Llanfairfechan Town (After Extra Time).
The Penwaig had lifted the trophy in June 2018 after a 4-2 win against Bontnewydd, but this time around we will see a new champion crowned.
Gwynedd League side Menai Tigers strolled to an impressive 7-2 win at home to Llanelwy Athletic, who themselves have been enjoying a fine season.
Fellow GL side Bro Goronwy crushed Rhuddlan Town 6-1 and Talysarn Celts will also be joining them in the next round after they beat Henllan 3-2 in Extra Time.
All three Anglesey League sides also progressed to the last eight of the competition. Table-toppers Bryngwran Bulls beat Llandudno Athletic 2-1, Holyhead Hotspur Reserves defeated Bro Cernyw 2-0 and Arriva Bangor came from 2-0 down to beat Y Glannau 3-2.
The Quarter Final draw for the Cup is as follows:
Bryngwran Bulls v Arriva Bangor
Hotspur Reserves v Bro Goronwy
Talysarn Celts v Llanfairfechan Town
Menai Tigers v Llansannan
