A STOPPAGE time goal for Nefyn United secured a 2-2 home draw with Gwynedd League rivals Talysarn Celts.

The visitors drew first blood when Guto Hughes found the target on 21 minutes, but this joy proved to be short-lived as United hit back almost instantly when Llion Jones broke clear and finished well.

After the interval saw the away side regain the initiative on 56 minutes when a neat passage of play was rounded off by Gwyn Thomas, and this looked to have given Celts’ all three points until the dying stages when the hosts were awarded a penalty, which Carl Jones converted to secure a share of the spoils.

There was better fortune for title chasing Glantraeth, who moved to within four points of Menai Bridge Tigers having played a game more following their emphatic 9-1 home rout over Llanystumdwy.

Another side celebrating a weekend success were Llangoed, who came away from their home tie against struggling Bontnewydd with a 5-3 triumph.

Charlie McKenna was in ruthless form throughout to secure a brace for the hosts, with Matty Owen, Wayne Thomas and Carwyn Williams also finding the net.

Credit to the away side, they showed tremendous determination throughout, but goals from Cian Davies Hughes, Morgan Roberts and Ian Pleming were not enough to claim a point.
