A PROFESSIONAL display ensured Meliden got back to winning ways with a 2-0 home success over Amlwch Town.
Peter Evans’ side notched their sixth victory in ten Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two contests in efficient style, and they remain in tenth position ahead of their next fixture at home to Llannerchymedd on February 23.
The hosts made an imposing start to the contest and they opened the scoring on 11 minutes when Tom Williams finished well following a period of sustained pressure, but they missed a host of opportunities to increase their advantage throughout the first period despite dominating for long periods.
After the interval saw the same pattern of play emerge and the home side finally doubled their tally thanks to a fine effort from Joe Cairns.
Although Evans’ men did not add to the scoreline in the final quarter of the contest, they still managed to see out the remainder of the game with minimal fuss to pick up the three points.
High-flying Kinmel Bay’s visit to Y Felinheli was postponed due to a frozen pitch, with the Division One tie between Prestatyn Sports and Mynydd Llandegai also falling victim to the weather.
