FORMER Conwy Borough manager Gareth Thomas has been appointed Director of Football at Denbigh Town.

The experienced manager guided the Tangerines to a memorable treble last term with the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One crown, in addition to the prestigious FAW Trophy and Cookson Cup.

He was relieved of his position at Y Morfa in early December following a poor run of results despite a positive start to life in the Huws Gray Alliance, and he returns to a club where he enjoyed a great deal of success in a previous spell.

This included a third placed finish in the second tier in 2016 and a final appearance in the Nathanial MG Cup.

Thomas, said: “I’m looking forward to the new role and delighted to be returning to Denbigh. I will be looking to add my experience to the whole club from the Development Squad, the Reserves through to the First Team.

“Having had several meetings with the personnel I am more than happy to come in and help the club to continue to grow both on and off the pitch.

“I have had meetings with all the coaching staff prior to agreeing to the role and hopefully they can use my experience to help throughout the teams. I’m looking forward to working with Matty (Jones) and Dewi (Llion) and putting in the hard work to make sure the club retains its place in the Huws Gray Cymru Alliance this season."

Denbigh Town chairman Shon Powell, added: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Perry back to Denbigh Town FC.

“He will bring with him a wealth of experience and knowledge of North Wales football. We are all very excited he has decided to return to our ever expanding and ambitious club."
