CAERNARFON Youth reached the Welsh Plate semi-finals with a thumping 56-6 home win over Penallta.

The young Cofis’ turned in another virtuoso display to reach the final four in emphatic fashion, which represents a significant achievement for one of the most talented squads anywhere in the country at this level.

The home side set their stall out early and went ahead through a try from Cai Griffiths, and this was swiftly followed by another which arrived courtesy of the outstanding Sam Williams. Owain Williams hit both conversion attempts.

Things got even better for the home side when Pedr Jones touched down after good work from Jack Davies, and this same pattern of play continued throughout the half as Shaun Owen and Davies both went over in quick succession.

Jones had a huge say in proceedings towards the end of the half with two more scores to complete his hat-trick and give them a sensational cushion at the interval.

A host of changes at the break brought a fresh urgency into the Cofis attack, and their rearguard had to hold firm shortly following the restart after scrum-half Guto Williams was shown a yellow card.

This is something they managed to achieve, and they continued to keep the scoreboard ticking over as Callum Jones brought the game to a premature end with a well-worked try thanks to some outstanding work in the build-up from Sunny Start.
