A CLINICAL display from Mark Jones gave Llannerchymedd a hard-fought 3-2 home win over Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two rivals Penmaenmawr Phoenix.

Despite the eventual result it was the visitors that drew first blood through Alfie Caldecott after 17 minutes, but they were pegged back midway through the half when Jones notched his first of the afternoon on 28.

Phoenix regained the initiative thanks to a fine effort from Daniel Hughes after 32 minutes, but Jones was the difference between the two sides following the interval and rounded off a clinical display with two more to complete his hat-trick and move the hosts up to fourth position in the table.

There was no such luck for Y Felinheli, who failed to cause a stir at the summit as they were beaten 3-0 at home by Glan Conwy.

The visitors got off to an imposing start and went ahead on ten minutes when prolific forward Jordan Phillips converted a chance, and the former Mochdre Sports standout was on hand to double their tally just before the break with another superb strike with 43 on the clock.

After the break saw the away side pick up where they left off from the outset, and they notched their third of the afternoon on 50 minutes when Morgan Owen fired home following a period of pressure to round off the scoring.

A brace from Gary Boulton was not enough to secure all three points for Aberffraw, with Connor Jordan and Darren Lewthwaite on target for Gaerwen in a 2-2 stalemate.
