LLANGEFNI were unable to topple WRU National League Division One North champions Nant Conwy after suffering a heavy 64-7 loss.

They wasted no time in making an impact on the game when Joel Stirling went over for their first try on seven minutes, and this was swiftly followed by another when Delwyn Jones crossed the white wash with 16 gone. Steffan Horan was successful with both conversion attempts.

Horan was the next to benefit from a sweeping attack for a third touch down on 18 minutes, with Jones also going over throughout the remainder of the first period during a rampant spell from the hosts.

A consolation from Cefni’s Carrog Roberts was converted by Rhys Hughes to reduce the deficit just before the break, but normal service was resumed after the interval when Gethin Vaughan went over on 50 minutes, which Horan converted.

This same pattern of play continued throughout the second half, with Rob Parry, Cai Jones, Stirling, Ifan Jones and Gethin Roberts all securing tries to round off what was a dominant display from the home side.

Three more conversions from Horan completed the scoring for Nant, who remain in third position.

Bro Ffestiniog were also on the wrong end of a big loss thanks to a 59-0 shut-out defeat at Ruthin.

Dolgellau bowed out of the SWALEC Bowl with a narrow 9-8 home loss to Bridgend Sports, and Bangor were downed 22-7 by Division Two North rivals Welshpool on home soil.

Division Three North side Holyhead continued their good run with a 38-15 victory over Shotton, but Menai Bridge and Llangefni Seconds both lost.
