KINMEL Bay lost further ground at the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two summit as they fell to a narrow 1-0 reverse at Glan Conwy.

Andy Thomas’ side were unable to claim something from what was a hotly contested and tight affair throughout, and they now sit in third spot and 13 points behind runaway leaders Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs following their win at Holyhead Town.

Bay will look to put things right and get their impressive first season in the fourth tier back on track when they welcome the pacesetters in a pivotal clash in terms of their overall fortunes this Saturday.

There was nothing to choose between the two side during the contest, which was decided on 80 minutes when prolific forward Jordan Phillips produced a fine strike for the home side to secure the points.

Meliden’s Take Stock Van Hire Challenge Cup journey ended at the second-round stage following a 1-0 loss at Pentraeth.

Peter Evans’ men were undone by a second half effort from Jack Diamond, and they spurned a host of opportunities following the setback to see them bow out of the competition.

They have an immediate chance to gain revenge on their cup opponents when Meliden entertain them on Saturday.
