LLANRWST United’s Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One title hopes were dealt a blow as they fell to a 2-1 home reverse at the hands of Llanberis.
The Rwsters were unable to recover from a disappointing start after falling behind on 15 minutes when David Jones found the net, and their task was made even more difficult when Gethin Wakeham doubled the visitors’ advantage with a well-taken effort with 38 gone.
United gave themselves some hope two minutes before the break when Leighton Griffiths halved the deficit after some neat build-up play, but they were unable to find a leveller and they find themselves six points behind leaders Llangefni Town having played two games more.
Glan Conwy boosted their Division Two promotion hopes with a resounding 5-2 triumph at Gaerwen.
It proved to be a very successful day for Aaron Boyle and Jordan Phillips, who hit a brace apiece during the rout, with Conor Davies also on target a minute from time to complete the rout.
There was no such luck for Mochdre Sports, who remain in the drop zone after a 3-0 home loss to Llannerchymedd, and Penmaenmawr Phoenix’s recent run of successive victories came to an end as they were held to a goalless draw at Holyhead Town.
