MELIDEN have significantly boosted their attacking options with the return of Matty Griffiths.

The prolific striker left the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two side to join Prestatyn Town earlier this season, but now makes a return following the appointment of Peter Evans as the club’s new manager.

Despite scoring consistently for the Seasiders’ Reserves side, Griffiths found chances limited at the Motion Finance Stadium under Neil Gibson, making brief substitute appearances for the Huws Gray Alliance strugglers.

He now moves back to a club where he has enjoyed phenomenal success that saw him emerge as one of the most lethal finishers in the region.

Griffiths was crowned the league’s top scorer for his efforts during the 2017/18 campaign after finding the net an astonishing 38 times.

This spearheaded Meliden to a seventh placed finish, with Griffiths scoring more than half their goals thanks to a series of consistent performances and it is a first time that a player from the club has netted more than 30 goals in a single season.

This included 32 from open play and six from the penalty spot, and he finished eight ahead of Steven Whittaker from promoted Bodedern Athletic.
