LLANRUG United secure their spot in the FAW Trophy’s last 16 thanks to a superb 4-2 home win over Llanfair United.

David Noel-Williams’ side produced one of their most complete performances of the season to further boost their chances of obtaining silverware this season, but they face a hugely difficult task this Wednesday when they make the trip to unbeaten Lock Stock Welsh Alliance leaders Llangefni Town in a pivotal clash at the summit (7.30pm).

The visitors looked to impose themselves from the outset and tested United stopper Dylan Roberts on a number of occasions from long range,

Gradually the home side began to see more of the ball and they were awarded a penalty midway through the half when Jonathan Sadler was brought down in the box after good work from Noel-Williams, and the midfielder dusted himself off to slot away the spot kick.

This joy proved to be fleeting as the away side struck back soon after the restart when Toby Evans levelled matters after 31 minutes with a calm finish, but the hosts regained the initiative just before the break when Sadler steered in his second of the tie from a Carl Griffiths cross.

Things got even better in the final action of the first period when player-manager Noel-Williams was in the thick of the action once again to tee up Gavin Lloyd-Jones for their third, but after the break saw the visitors reduce the deficit on 80 minutes when Karl Seliaerts netted from the spot after Griffiths had been felled in the area.

The Llanrug back-line held firm in the face of some direct pressure in the closing stages, and they got a crucial fourth in stoppage time courtesy of a sensational free-kick from the outstanding Noel-Williams.
