GLAN Conwy’s FAW Trophy adventure is over as they suffered a 4-0 reverse at ambitious Corwen.

The Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two side failed to reach the last 16 of the competition after being second-best throughout, with their preparations for the tie severely hampered as they turned up at the ground just 15 minutes before the scheduled kick-off time.

They were given a mountain to climb early on when Danny Jellicoe’s side went ahead after four minutes when Sam Henry curled a superb free-kick into the corner to open the scoring.

Henry almost added to his collection soon after when he fizzed an effort wide, with Ryan Billington unfortunate to see his header sail narrowly over during a strong opening to the game from the hosts.

The visitors saw an attempt hacked off the line to deny them a leveller midway through the half, and Jordan Phillips was denied a clear goalscoring opportunity thanks to a sensational last-ditch tackle from Kyle Jones.

Jamie Jones was the next to go close for the away side just before the break when his free-kick flew over, and they were caught with a sucker punch in stoppage time when Joe Williams found space and finished well to double the hosts’ advantage.

After the break saw Glan missed yet another chance as Conor Davies’ header rattled the crossbar, with substitute Iorwerth Jones making an instant impact at the other end to treble their tally and all-but seal the victory.

A frustrating afternoon for the visitors was confirmed when Dale Davies rounded off the scoring late on.
