PRESTATYN Sports ended their recent run of disappointing results with a fine 3-2 home win over Greenfield.

The newly promoted Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One side got back to winning ways at their Gronant base following a thoroughly entertaining affair, with Mark Hughes and John Hargreaves’ men now occupying ninth spot in the standings ahead of their home clash with Llandyrnog United on Saturday (2pm).

The hosts came out in imposing fashion and they broke the deadlock after just five minutes when Kris Owen produced a fine finish after a prolonged period of possession, and Sports doubled their tally with 32 gone when recent signing Ben Cawley netted from the penalty spot.

After the break saw the home side miss a number of opportunities to seal the three points throughout the second period, and a nervy ending looked assured when Griff John converted a chance on 80 minutes to get the visitors back into the contest.

This provoked a strong response from the hosts, who restored their two-goal advantage through James Harper immediately following the restart, and despite a stoppage time effort from Liam Sumner it was not enough to prevent Sports from gaining their third home triumph in six league games.
