YNYS Môn 2019 organisers have revealed that the Football Association of Wales and the FAW Trust will be official partners of the Inter Games Football Tournament held on the island next year.

Officials made the announcement today (Friday, November 16) as preparations continue to progress ahead of next summer's event.

With 15 teams from ten islands across the globe set to descend upon Anglesey from June 15 to 22, 2019, excitement is building ahead of next summer’s men’s and women’s competitions.

A spokesperson for the Ynys Mon 2019 group said: "Securing the support of the FAW and FAW Trust is a fantastic achievement for the tournament’s organising committee, which is comprised entirely of volunteers.

"The deal will see them work in partnership with Welsh football’s governing body and the Trust to provide the best possible tournament on the island next summer."

The 2019 Inter Games tournament offers the Ynys Mon Island Games Association a real opportunity to showcase what they can do as they bid to host the International Island Games Tournament in 2025.

FAW Chief Executive Jonathan Ford welcomed the 2019 Inter Games Tournament Partnership saying: "The Football Association of Wales is delighted to support the games. We are sure they will be a huge success both on and off the field.

"Anglesey will represent Wales in a positive way both in terms of the football and it’s location."

Ynys Mon 2019 officials say that working with the FAW Trust will "ensure a legacy to the island in terms of Anglesey-specific Coach Education courses and initiatives to increase participation in all forms of football on the island."

"To be entering into a partnership with the FAW and the FAW Trust is a real honour and very exciting for everyone involved in the Ynys Môn 2019 Inter Games tournament.” Ynys Môn 2019 Project Manager Gareth Parry said.

“We’ve got the potential as an island to put on a fantastic show with this tournament. The passion for football here is unparalleled, we have continuously produced players, coaches and football professionals of the highest standard."
