KINMEL Bay progressed to the Take Stock Van Hire Cup second round with a 3-0 victory over Aberffraw.

The newly promoted side turned in another stylish display book their place in the next stage of the competition, and they will look to close the gap further this Saturday during their trip to Mochdre Sports.

The home side got off to a positive start with plenty of possession and they went ahead on 20 minutes when Ryan Hassett took advantage of some space to fire in the opener.

Things got even better for Andy Thomas’ men after the break, with Anthony Colquitt continuing his superb recent run of goalscoring form with their second of the contest after another good spell of pressure on 56 minutes.

The prolific forward was presented with another chance on 78 minutes, and Colquitt showed his class once again to increase Bay’s advantage with his second of the afternoon to round off the scoring.

There was further good news for the club as Thomas secured the Queensferry Sports Division Two Manager of the Month Award for October.

The popular figure, who took over from Leon Field this summer, has steered his side to an outstanding start to life in the fourth-tier after winning the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division title last term, and they currently sit in second spot in the standings.
