MARK Webster suffered a narrow loss during the opening day of the 2018 bwin Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton.

Day one of the £450,000 event saw all 32 players in action.

In Group C, Keegan Brown's 153 finish proved to be the turning point in his tight 5-4 win over Denbigh dartist Webster.

In the other Group C contest, European champion James Wade began his charge for a third successive TV title with a 5-0 whitewash of Dutchman Wesley Harms.
