SPORTS reporter Dean Jones returns with his weekend predictions for each Huws Gray Alliance fixture.

Ruthin Town vs Gresford Athletic

Chris Williams’ side will be looking to put their weekend defeat at Porthmadog behind them and pick up a valuable three points to get their season back on track after a good start.

They have buoyed by the news that striker Llyr Morris re-affirmed his commitment to the club this week after an approach from Bangor City, but they come up against a very good Athletic side that come into the game on the back of a last gasp defeat at Flint Town United.

Prediction: Ruthin Town 2-1 Gresford Athletic

Airbus Broughton vs Denbigh Town

The all-conquering Wingmakers left it very late at Buckley Town to extend their winning start to the season to 11 games, and they will be aiming to secure 12 in a row against a Denbigh side who have been hit and miss so far this term.

With Asa Thomas back in the fold and recent signing Joe Chaplin hitting the ground running, it would be a surprise if they did not pick up three points to move them one step closer to a JD Welsh Premier League return.

Prediction: Airbus Broughton 3-1 Denbigh Town

Bangor City vs Llanrhaeadr YM

City have been in good form since the departure of manager Craig Harrison, winning their last two contests and showing the sort of quality that put them as pre-season favourites for the title.

Their home clash against Llanrhaeadr represents another significant chance to get another victory, but Marc Griffiths’ side have already shown they are more than capable of frustrating clubs with bigger reputations this season and they are not to be taken lightly.

Prediction: Bangor City 2-0 Llanrhaeadr YM

Buckley Town vs Rhyl

Town can take a lot of positives despite their defeat to Airbus, as they ran the runaway leaders extremely close and could even have taken all three points before fading late on.

The newly promoted side face another stern test of their credential this weekend in the form of the Lilywhites, who have seen a complete turnaround in their fortunes in recent games and turned in their most ruthless attacking display of the season in their win over Holyhead Hotspur.

Prediction: Buckley Town 1-1 Rhyl

Conwy Borough vs Penrhyncoch

The Tangerines have suffered a recent slump after a strong start to life back in the second tier, and this winnable fixture will tell manager Gareth Thomas a great deal about his side’s character in the face of adversity.

The Roosters are a well-drilled side who will look to frustrate a formidable Boro attack, and they are going to have to be at the very top of their game at Y Morfa if they want to get their campaign back on track.

Prediction: Conwy Borough 3-1 Penrhyncoch

Guilsfield vs Porthmadog

In-form Port will be looking to keep the pressure on Airbus in the slim hope that they suffer a complete collapse in relation to their title challenge, but the Guils’ have a formidable home record and this is notoriously one of the most difficult places to go anywhere in the division.

Their ability to frustrate opposing attacks has become something of a trademark over the years, and I expect this one to be decided by the slimmest of margins.

Prediction 0-1 Porthmadog

Holyhead Hotspur vs Holywell Town

This is an absolutely pivotal game at the basement for both side, and it really could be a crossroads match in terms of their outlook for the remainder of the season.

Darren Garmey’s men will need to show more fight than they displayed in their hammering at Rhyl, and by contrast Johnny Haseldin will be hoping their superb second half fightback to secure a point against Guilsfield.

Prediction: Holyhead Hotspur 2-2 Holywell Town

Prestatyn Town vs Flint Town United

This is arguably the game of the day and represents a chance for the Seasiders’ to really announce they have returned as a force to be reckoned with in the second tier.

With two successive wins in league and cup, confidence has never been higher following the return of Neil Gibson, but the Silkmen possess so much quality and they enter the game in tremendous form.

Prediction: Prestatyn Town 1-2 Flint Town United
