KINMEL Bay turned in a sensational attacking display to close the gap on Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two leaders Blaenau Ffestiniog.

The newly promoted side made light work of their trip to Pentraeth, eventually emerging victorious 7-4 to cut the gap at the summit to seven points having played two more games than their promotion rivals.

Despite the eventual result it was the home side who broke the deadlock when Iwan Morris found the net on seven minutes, before prolific forward Kie Ellis turned the game on its head with a quick-fire brace after 11 and 19 to put Bay ahead.

This joy proved to be short-lived as Morris notched his second of the afternoon to level matters on 21 minutes, but the way side managed to secure an advantage at the break when Jack Williams and Anthon Jones both struck in the first period.

After the interval saw the visitors pull further clear thanks to strikes from Anthony Colquitt and Joe Worthington, with Gwyndaf Hughes and Mark Lock hitting the target for the home start during what was a frantic contest.

There was no such luck for Meliden, who were unable to build on last weekend’s positive result and were beaten 3-0 at home by Gaerwen.

A sluggish start from the hosts saw them fall two-behind within the opening half hour thanks to finishes from Llion Vaughan Jones and Darren Lewthwaite, and although they controlled possession for phases of the contest they were unable to find a way past the resolute visiting rearguard, with a quick-break resulting in Joe Volsdon rounding off the scoring after 88 minutes.
