ST ASAPH City boss Daniel Brewerton picked up his finest victory since taking over at the club thanks to a 2-1 triumph at Llandudno Albion.

The Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One side have finally found their feet after a disappointing start to the campaign, and they manage to come away from their clash with Darren Jones’ promotion candidates with a vital three points.

The Saints came out of the blocks flying and they were rewarded for their strong start after just six minutes when Simon Fawcett continued his excellent recent run of form with a well taken finish.

This pattern of play continued throughout the first period, and the visitors managed to double their advantage just before the break when John Terry converted a chance after another prolonged spell of possession.

After the break saw the hosts finally begin to impose themselves on the contest, something that saw them reduce the arrears on 75 minutes when Danial Evans maintained his impressive start since finishing cricketing duties with Llandudno to get his side back in the tie.

Despite having to withstand heavy pressure in the closing stages, the away side remained resolute to secure a much-needed success that sees them move into tenth spot in the standings.

Meliden progressed to the Take Stock Van Hire Challenge Cup second round thanks to a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Amlwch Town on home soil.

Rhys Roberts’ second minute opener for the visitors was cancelled out after the break by a Chris Marsden finish on 49, only for the former to restore Town’s advantage immediately following the restart with 54 gone.

The home side took the game into an additional 30 minutes when Mike Williams found the net with five to go, and with no side able to find a winner it was Meliden who prevailed 3-2 on penalties to advance.
