CAERNARFON Town picked up another valuable point as they drew 2-2 at home against Bala Town.

The Canaries turned in another tremendous display in front of a bumper crowd of 932 at The Oval, and the JD Welsh Premier League side will look to continue their impressive start to the season when they travel to Aberystwyth Town on Friday (7.45pm).

Sean Eardley men made a very positive start to proceedings and they took the lead after 11 minutes when in-form forward Danny Brookwell continued his excellent recent efforts in front of goal after a neat passage of play down the left-hand side.

Things almost got even better for the home side soon after when they rattled the woodwork on 18 minutes, and skipper Nathan Craig blazed a free-kick narrowly over with 28 gone.

Brookwell was the next to go close when his strike fizzed wide during a considerable spell of dominance, but the Cofis were unable to get a crucial second and were made to pay in first half stoppage time when a Henry Jones free-kick was headed home by the prolific Chris Venables to level matters at the break.

After the interval saw the hosts regroup and continue to impose themselves on proceedings, and Brookwell was on hand to give them the lead early on in the second period with his second of the evening after 48 minutes.

This was met with a very positive response from the Lakesiders, who secured a share of the spoils on 55 minutes when the home rearguard failed to clear their lines which resulted in Steven Tames slotting past Alex Ramsay.

Town striker Jamie Breese, said: “We are disappointed really as the chances were there but the lads have done well overall.

“We are happy with a point but we have to learn to take our chances. We are improving every week and it was great to see another big crowd on a Friday evening.

“Everyone will work hard in training this week for the Aberystwyth game, which is a big one as it looks like they’re going to be in and around us this season.”
