MENAI Bridge need just three points from their final fixture to secure the North Wales Cricket League Premier Division championship.

The long-time leaders host Pwllheli on Saturday knowing any type of positive result would see them get their hands back on the championship, with Brymbo the only remaining challengers after a weekend washout that decimated top-flight fixtures throughout the region.

This included Bridge’s last away outing at Denbigh, which was cancelled without a ball being bowled, and they now have the opportunity to get their hands on some silverware on home soil against one of the division’s surprise packages this term.

Pwll’ have made fantastic strides throughout the summer in their first season back in the Premier Division, comfortably avoiding a relegation fight and they could move up into fifth spot with a shock win and other results go their way.

That will be easier said than done, with Dion Holden’s men strongly fancied to see out a season that they have dominated for long periods.

Bridge possess a formidable batting line-up that features the likes of Luke Jones and Jack Gower, who put on 275 for the first wicket in their recent encounter with Hawarden Park and are arguably the best opening partnership anywhere in the region.

Holden has also contributed significantly with both bat and ball to aid his side’s cause, with the brother tandem of Geraint and Gerallt Roberts also catching the eye throughout with a series of standout efforts.

The future of the club is also in very safe hands, with talented youngsters such as Josh Massey slowly making a name for themselves as part of their second unit.
