BETHESDA face a crunch final day promotion clash at Mochdre following their 74-run victory at North Wales Cricket League Division One strugglers Abergele.

The visitors set an imposing target of 246-5 from their allotted 50 overs at the crease, with wicketkeeper Nicholas Parry turning in an outstanding knock to finish the day unbeaten on 91, which included no fewer than ten boundaries.

He was aided at the other end by Matthew Harrington, who managed to contribute 68 to the overall score before he was eventually dismissed by a dazzling strike from Rana Das.

Other good performances came from Jez Shea and Ioan Roberts, who scored 27 and 21 respectively, with David Moulson claiming three wickets from a 12-over spell at the expense of 40 runs.

Gele tried valiantly to reach their target but were left with nothing to show for their efforts as they mustered 172 all out in reply.

Attention now turns to Pesda’s crunch tie at Matty Humphreys’ second placed side, who have enjoyed a fine end to the season to put them in pole position in the pursuit of promotion to the Premier Division.

Just eight points separate the pair in the standings, and nothing but a win will do in their final outing as they look to leapfrog their rivals in their pivotal final fixture on Saturday.
