CAERNARFON kept their hopes of a top two North Wales Cricket 2nd XI League West Division finish alive with a 47-run home win over Pwllheli Seconds.

The Cofis set a target of 188-3 from their 40 overs at the crease, with opener Jason Parry producing one of his finest displays of the season to finish the day unbeaten on 71 from 110 deliveries.

He was aided at the other end by Ian Morgan, who contributed 50 before he was caught off a Carter Arthur Bentley delivery, with Huw Erddyn Davies (17) and Sameer Yusuf (15*) also securing double-digit scores.

Things got off to a great start in the field for the home side as Barry Roberts and Simon Davis disposed of Neil Williams (6) and Iwan Moore (16) early on, with Yusuf also getting in on the act with the wickets of Ioan Lloyd (5), Hefin Wright (1) and skipper Osian Williams on his way to figures of 3-28 from nine overs.

Wicketkeeper Rhys Griffiths kept things interesting but ran out of overs in the closing stages on his way to 79 not out as the visitors mustered 141-5 in reply.

The result leaves Caernarfon in third spot ahead of their clash at Bethesda Seconds on Saturday, September 1.
