BANGOR City continued their busy pre-season schedule ahead of the new Huws Gray Alliance season with a 4-1 loss at Evo-stik League side Colwyn Bay.

Both sides missed chances to open the scoring in the opening exchanges, but it was the Seagulls that drew first blood on 23 minutes when Danny Bartle found the neat after superb approach play from recent signing from Denbigh Town Craig Pritchard.

The talented playmaker turned provider for the home side yet again soon after he was the victim of a robust challenge outside the box on 33 minutes, and Louis Barnes despatched the resulting free-kick into the top corner to give Bay a two-goal cushion at the interval.

After the break saw the Citizens gradually impose themselves on proceedings, and they got themselves back into the friendly contest after 51 minutes when winger Alex Boss latched on to a long ball before steering his shot into the net.

The lively Pritchard was proving to be a thorn in the City side and he almost got himself on the scoresheet when he fired wide after another barnstorming run, with Barnes forcing a superb stop from the visiting custodian with a long-range effort.

Craig Harrison’s men continued to probe as they went in search of a leveller, with a free-kick sailing wide and a promising attack down the left thwarted, whilst at the other end Ashley Ruane also spurned a good opportunity when his effort was deflected for a corner after he was teed up by a Bay trialist.

The hosts managed to seal their victory soon after when a trialist prodded home from close after Barnes carved open the City defence to continue his virtuoso display, and Alan Morgan’s men put the exclamation point on proceedings after 84 minutes when Ruane finished off a sensational team move to fire in a fourth and round off the scoring.
