THE number of teams involved in the Anglesey League is set to rise to eleven for the 2018/19 season as three new teams have successfully applied to join the division.

Cemaes Bay, Holyhead Hotspur Reserves and Cefni FC (Llangefni) were all granted permission to sign up during the league's annual general meeting last Friday night.

Llangoed Reserves have folded and 2017/18 champions Mynydd Tigers will remain in the division as things stand.

The three new teams will join Arriva Bangor, Bodorgan, Bryngwran Bulls, Caergybi, Llandegfan, Pentraeth Reserves and Valley in the Anglesey League.

During the AGM at Gaerwen community centre last week, the following awards were handed out: Alwyn Rowlands player of the season, James Ryan (Bryngwran Bulls); Carwyn Jones top scorer, Gary Jo Owen (Caergybi, 58 goals); goalkeeper of the season, Lee Heywood (Llangoed Reserves); Dennis Bryant manager of the season, Mark Hughes (Mynydd Tigers); secretary of the year, Col Smith (Caergybi); Ray Finn referee of the season, Heinz Broering; Bill Abbott assistant referee of the year, Carwyn Jones;

John Williams most sporting award, Llandegfan FC.
