BETHESDA remain at the North Wales Cricket League Division One summit after a 100-run win at basement dwellers Conwy.

The visitors made an impressive start to their time at the crease thanks to an opening stand of 82 from Carwyn Williams (48) and Jez Shea (32) before both were out by Stan Senior, and the same bowler took out the in-form Matthew Harrington (4) to finish on 3-57.

Pesda’s batting order did not fare as well as the opening partnership, with only Andrew Day (14), Ioan Roberts (12) and Nicholas Parry (10) making it into double-figures thereafter thanks in no small part to the bowling of Graham Boase, who claimed three wickets for the loss of 29 runs as the away side were all out for 157 from 47 overs.

The home top order was decimated by Gareth Jones, who producing a sensational spell with the new ball to dismiss captain Rajjenu Britto (6), Philip Davies (9), Evan Williams (3) and Ed Favill (11) in quick succession, and he also added Graham Heath (7) and Vikram Kantharaju (1) to his list of victims to end a blistering 12-over spell with figures of 6-26.

Harrington also got in on the act with two scalps at the expense of just six runs during a dismal time in the middle for the hosts, who collapsed to 58 all out in reply.

Jonathan Williams’ side are now 17 points clear of nearest challengers Mold ahead of their next league outing on July 7 when they entertain Pontblyddyn.
