CAERNARFON Town boss Sean Eardley has paid tribute to two squad members following their departure from the club.

Shaun Cavanagh and Kevin Lloyd have both been released from the JD Welsh Premier League side after the arrival of a number of new attack-minded players as the Cofis look to re-establish themselves as a force to be reckoned with at the top of the Welsh pyramid.

Lloyd was a hugely popular figure with the Cofi Army and has returned to Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One side Llanrug United after joining during the January transfer window.

Also leaving the Canaries is the mercurial talent of Cavanagh, who worked with Eardley as part of the Llandudno Academy system but found chances limited as the Huws Gray Alliance champions went in search of an elusive promotion to the top flight.

There will be no shortage of suitors for Cavanagh, who is looking for more regular football to reignite his promising young career to date.

Eardley, said: “Cav has a terrific attitude and I just couldn't guarantee him the minutes he desires.

“He’s been different class since coming in and he'll have no problem finding a club.

“Kev is a fantastic lad and I wish him all the best at Llanrug.

“We had a good chat and it was more a commitment issue. Again, I wish him all the best and hope to see him on the terraces!

“I want to thank them both for all their hard work and commitment last season.”
