CAERNARFON Town have made their first two signings of the transfer window with the acquisitions of Ross Stephens and Ben Maher.

The talented duo join the newly promoted JD Welsh Premier League side from relegated Prestatyn Town, and both put pen to paper under the watchful eye of manager Sean Eardley this week.

Maher was one of the most gifted players operating for the Seasiders and played a starring role in the Huws Gray Alliance title winning campaign in 2017.

He was one of the standout performers in their brief stay at the top of the Welsh pyramid, and this experience is sure to stand him in good stead as the 22-year-old looks to help the Cofis establish themselves at the top of the Welsh pyramid.

Eardley, said: “I’m looking forward to working with Ben. He’s a young lad but so grounded and that was the first thing that hit me after speaking to him.

“He has good energy levels and can play in a variety of positions and is someone who will add quality to the squad after playing the majority of league games for Prestatyn in the Welsh Premier League last year.”

Also arriving at The Oval is cultured midfielder Stephens, who joined Town from Caersws midway through last season and has also represented Aberystwyth Town and Newtown during a glittering career to date.

“Ross possesses an abundance of experience within the WPL boasting over 300 appearances,” added Eardley.

“He is good from set pieces and has a sweet left foot and will be good to have around the place. He is eager to get going and I’m sure he’ll receive a good welcome from the Cofi Army.”
