IT was another dramatic weekend in the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One, and there are sure to be plenty more twists and turns before the final placings are decided in the coming weeks.

Six teams are still in with a realistic chance of claiming the title after a drmatic few months in the third tier, and sports reporter Dean Jones looks at the candidates in addition to making a bold prediction.

Conwy Borough:

The Tangerines are currently in the driving seat and have been in the top three for the majority of the campaign, and manager Gareth Thomas has plenty of talent at his disposal which will leave him confident of getting over the line.

They have been inconsistent at times during the season as their loss at Nantlle Vale demonstrated, but Boro have a great deal of experience within their squad which will stand them in good stead ahead of their crucial run of fixtures.

In Corrig McGonigle and Dean Seager they have two of the deadliest finishers operating outside of the top two tiers, while Cory Williams has come into form after a frustrating spell on the sideline in what is another huge boost.

Llangefni Town:

Chris Roberts’ side had destiny in their own hands before picking up one point from their Easter Bank Holiday games, and they currently sit three points behind Boro’ having played the same amount of games.

They are not to be written off despite their recent slump in form, and Cefni are a completely different proposition on homesoil that has been the catalyst behind their recent success.

Town know that there is no more room for error, especially with a host of teams queuing up behind them with games in hand.

Llandudno Albion:

It has been a memorable campaign for Albion that has put them in championship contention thanks to a stunning run of form since the turn of the year.

Paul Cheung deserves a tremendous amount of credit for putting together a young and talented squad that are capable of beating anyone on their day, and should they win their games in hand then they would go level on points with Llangefni.

In Ricky Jones and Allan Davies they have a pair of proven match-winners, and if their momentum continues to grow then no team in the division will be relishing the prospect of coming across them during the remainder of the campaign.

Llanrwst United:

Despite a change in managers it has been a standout effort so far from the Rwsters, who have gone from relegation candidates to title contenders in a matter of months.

That is down to the strong recruitment of dedicated players who have played at a higher level, added with the renaissance in form of veteran forward Mike Lundstram who has been a significant presence within the set-up this term.

United will move to within two points of Conwy Borough if they are successful in gaining maximum points from their games in hand, and the experience within their squad will be a huge asset in a race that is set to go down to the wire.

Llanberis:

Another of the surprise packages of the season have been Llanberis, who are still in with a shout of an unlikely title success despite only finding the net 33 times throughout the campaign.

They will need an awful lot to go their way to achieve this goal, but the fact that they are being talked about as potential winners of the championship just shows how far they have come as a group.

Llanrug United:

It is going to be a brutal few weeks for the United squad, who have played just 15 league games so far this season thanks to a series of postponements.

This is going to make it very difficult to get in contention given the frequency of their fixtures, although they are a resolute bunch that possess a striker who can win a game on his own at any given opportunity in Allan Mark Owen.

Llanrug are undefeated away from home and can move to within two points of the summit if they manage to win their seven games in hand, but this is going to be a very tough ask and fatigue may prove to be their biggest stumbling block.

Prediction: 1. Conwy Borough 2. Llandudno Albion 3. Llangefni Town 4. Llanrwst United 5. Llanrug United 6. Llanberis
