THE FIRST round of the Huws Gray Megan Cup will kick-off this weekend.

Three fixtures will take place on Saturday as the early stages of the competition, which involves Kon-X Anglesey League sides, gets underway.

First, Arriva Bangor will take on Pentraeth Reserves at 1.30pm at Bangor City's 4G pitch.

Kevin Jones' determined Arriva side head into the tie as favourites with hotshot striker Scott Hughes looking to add to his current haul of 22 goals.

At 5.30pm, Caergybi will take on Llandegfan at the same venue.

Caergybi have the prolific Gary Jo Owen in their ranks and are being regarded as one of the favourites to win the Cup this season.

Jordan Love's Llandegfan side will have to spring a real surprise to knock them out.

The final fixture of the weekend will see Llangoed & District Reserves travel to Cae Ysgol to take on Bryngwran Bulls for a 1.30pm kick-off.

Dewi Williams' Reserves side are a decent team who know how to score goals. Striker Arwyn Morris has been their main man - hitting 14 so far,

Richard Owen's Bulls' on the other hand have the likes of James Ryan, Tony Meyer and Matty Roberts in their side, all of which are all capable of producing game-changing moments.

This tie could be the most entertaining of the lot as it really could go either way.

The entertainment in the Megan Cup began last week as an ever-improving Bodorgan side knocked a strong Valley Athletic team out of the competition after beating them 3-2 on penalties.

Arriva, Caergybi and Bryngwran will be favourites to progress to the next round, but the unpredictability of these teams so far this season could mean that there is an exciting Saturday of football ahead.
