A 28-year-old Caernarfon man sent his girlfriend a Snapchat video of him “trashing the house and her belongings” and referring to the smashing of a fishtank.

It happened when Bethan Davies had been in the process of removing her belongings from the house in Fron Cilgwyn, Caernarfon, magistrates were told during a civil hearing at Llandudno at the weekend.

They granted a domestic violence protection order for 28 days against Mathew Roberts, banning any contact with Bethan Davies.

Sarah Brown, applying for the order on behalf of North Wales police said an allegation had also been made that Mathew Roberts had struck her to the face on January 16, but she was unwilling to support a prosecution.

“She says the relationship with Mr Roberts is at an end,” added the solicitor. The order was necessary to protect her from violence or the threat of violence and he must not approach Y Glyn, Caernarfon, where she is living.

Magistrates granted the civil order and Mathew Roberts, who did not attend, must pay £226 costs.
