Two women were left terrified when a knife-wielding robber burst into the store where they worked.

Detectives are hunting the man, who wore a Halloween ‘skull’ mask and walked into Listers newsagents in Stone Hall Road, Eccleshill .

He pulled out a knife and demanded cash and staff handed over just under £100, a police spokesman said. The robber made off down Stone Hall Road.

Lorraine Holmes, who works in the newsagent, said two female colleagues were in the shop at the time.

The women, one in her early 50s and the other in her 60s, were left “shaken” by the robbery, which happened between 6.40am and 6.50am on Friday.

Mrs Holmes said: “I wasn’t here but as far as I know, he was wearing a mask and had a knife. There were two of the ladies who work here in a morning at the time.”

Police said they want to speak to a man in connection with the robbery.

He is described as about 5ft 4, of medium build and was wearing a dark zip-up jacket.

Detective Sergeant Simon Howroyd, of Airedale and North Bradford CID, said the robber was wearing an unusual “elaborate and gothic skull-type mask.”

He said nobody had yet been arrested in connection with the robbery and investigations remain ongoing.
