AN investigation has been launched after a RAF plane crashed on Anglesey, the Ministry of Defence has confirmed.

A crash took place at RAF Valley earlier this afternoon (September 23), with eyewitnesses reporting seeing a RAF T2 Hawk crashing shortly after take-off.

Two crew members were seen ejecting from the plane - the RAF has confirmed that they were located shortly after the incident and are being supported.

Emergency services, including the fire service and police teams, remain at the scene, which also drew a large air ambulance response.

The crash scene is between Pencarnisiog and Rhosneigr, around 10 minutes away from RAF Valley.

An investigation into the incident has been launched.

A Royal Air Force spokesperson said: β€œAn incident involving an RAF T2 Hawk aircraft, flying out of RAF Valley, occurred near Anglesey.

"An investigation is underway and we will not comment further at this time.”
