POLICE have issued a statement after closing a road in a Gwynedd village earlier today.

North Wales Police said officers attended an address on High Street, Penygroes, as part of an "intelligence-led investigation".

The force said there was "not believed to be any threat to the wider community" and the road has since re-opened.

A police spokesperson said: "Officers attended an address on High Street, Penygroes, shortly before 7am today, 30 July, as part of an intelligence-led investigation.

"A temporary road closure was in place while the operation took place, which has since been lifted.

"Investigations are ongoing and there is not believed to be any threat to wider community."
